Reclining Lisa to Reclining Buddha
01.10.2006 - 01.10.2006
I woke early, as usual but decided that today I had to do something. Unfortunately, ‘A Lot Like Love’ was on tv, the most romantic film ever, so I had to watch that first.
The film finished about 1pm so I went to the internet shop and called the bank. They explained that no money had been taken, to my relief. This was the best news! This made me so happy I was ready to go out and explore again. I made my way to Koh San Road and got something to eat at the Irish pub. I had a mooch around but didn’t find anything to buy. I decided I would go to Wat Pho (the reclining Buddha). This was something I had to see before I left Bangkok.
I walked there, without a map and just followed my nose. I had an idea where it was, just didn’t know exactly. I found it though!
It was only 50baht which was cheap, to get in and I had a walk around. Luckily, it was Buddhist day, so all on the Buddhist monks were there, praying and chanting, it was so interesting to see. I left the reclining Buddha until last and I’m so glad I did. It took my breath away. I knew it was big, but it was huge, 60 feet long and all gold!!
I took a lot of pictures from every angle just to try and get the enormity of it, then went outside where I was stalked by women selling novelty items. I got cornered and ended up buying some things; I bartered though so I got some really good deals. I then got a tuk-tuk back to Koh San Road.
I got a drink in a bar and watched the Arsenal vs Charlton match, it was 1-1 when I left, I just got bored. I walked back to the hotel and stopped off again at the internet shop to put my pictures on my pen drive. I was on for about 90 minutes as Chris was on too. We chatted for a bit and he said how Matt and Andy were still with him. I miss them a lot and I was sad to say Goodbye again. They were in Saigon so there was no way I would see them again before I left for Sydney. I also chatted with Mum, Dad, Claire and Joanne, I sent them my pics and Joanne explained that Chris had bought her a ring. She wound me up by saying she was getting married next year. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. After chatting with everyone I did my usual trip to the 7-11, got a coke, munch and went back to my room to watch tv for the night.
