Bangkok bound

I woke up early and quickly got dressed and was out of the door. There was no way in hell I was going to miss that boat! I went up the hills and along the pot-holed roads to the pier. It was only 8.30am and I was told I couldn’t check in until 9am, so I sat around and waited. At 9am I checked in and got my tickets and was told the boat wasn’t until 10am. Another hour of waiting around!

We finally got on the boat which was an hour and a half journey, so they showed the movie ‘War of the Worlds’, a 3 hour movie! So I got to watch half of it. The sea was really rough again so a lot of the journey was spent looking at the horizon, and there were a lot of people who were sick on the boat, this time.

I arrived in Chumphon for the coach but had to wait for another hour, in the rain. The hour passed quite quickly and we boarded the coach. Unfortunately, we were allocated seats. This meant I would spend the next 8 hours sat next to the most fidgety, Japanese girl with her inflatable pillow, her earplugs and eye mask, her blanket, her woolly sock boot things and the worst breath! The journey was long with only 1 stop off. It was the hardest journey I had done yet!!

When we got to Bangkok it was raining with thunder and lightening, the best lightening I have ever seen. It spread across the sky and lit everything up. I also had the worst headache. My head was banging!

It was 8.30pm when we arrived and my main priority was to find a bed and get in it. We were told we would be dropped off on Koh San Road but I saw nothing that resembled it. I decided to follow a group of backpackers through the pouring rain. I got to a crossroads and seemed to lose everyone, so I took a right turn and hoped for the best. It was quite a busy street so it looked like I was on the right track. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a reception desk. It was for a hotel and looked quite expensive, but I didn’t care, I would pay any amount of money tonight and sort something else out tomorrow. I headed straight for the reception, booked in and got to my room. It was nice and had everything I needed, and it was only 400baht! It had an en-suite shower and bathroom, air con and a tv.

I dropped my bags and stripped off my soaking wet clothes and climbed straight into the bed, my head was banging and there was no way I was going anywhere until it was gone.
