Leavin' on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again!

Having spent the day with Rachael and getting packed, Mum, Dad and Claire drove me to the airport. I said ‘Goodbye’ to Joanne as it was no point having everyone come to the airport. It seemed to take forever to get to Manchester, then I realised Dad was driving at his usual slow pace. We got to the airport, eventually, and I checked in, looking for anyone who seemed to be in the same situation. There was no-one so I just had to grin and bear it. I didn’t have long before I had to go through passport control, so we all had a quick cup of tea. It was then that I mentioned I didn’t want any tears as I was only going on an extended holiday and I would be back before they knew it. I had no such luck though, Claire and Dad were fine but Mum threw her arms around me and started to cry saying she ‘didn’t want me to go!’ (Thanks Mum). I didn’t cry, I held it in. I was worried that if I cried, Mum and dad would worry even more. So I kept smiling and put on my excited face. Then they were gone and from here on in, I was on my own.
After passing through security my first stop was the bar, I walked straight in and got a double vodka! The drink helped and my nerves were better so before I knew it, I was boarding the plane and being served dinner! The food wasn’t bad but there wasn’t much that I liked. I watched ‘Just my luck’ and had a chat with the man sitting next to me. His name was Bob and he lives in Saudi Arabia. He was just flying home having been to the Uk to see his family.
Seven hours later, we arrived in Dubai. Luckily, Bob had flown into this airport a thousand times before so he showed me which way to go and wished me well. The flight from Dubai had a one hour delay and I had nothing to do but wait. We finally boarded the plane a while later, this time I was sat next to a girl called Anita. She was he same age as me and a trainee solicitor who had just been given the opportunity to work and train in Singapore. This time the film was ‘Mission Impossible 3’, but we both had trouble staying awake on this flight so it didn’t seem to take as long.
